Joseph Barrera - Violin & Viola
Joseph Barrera has been playing the violin for over 20 years and teaching for over 13 years. He believes that every student is different and strives to adapt to every students’ needs and learning pace. He is proficient in all Suzuki Books Vol. 1-10. In addition to classical training, he also teaches movie music, pop and fiddle tunes.
He has studied Music Education at UTSA. His past teachers were Dr. Yuli Jiang, Stephanie Sant’Ambrogio (previous San Antonio Symphony concertmaster), and Mary Ellen Goree (current SA Symphony 2nd violin principal). In his high school years, he has been Concertmaster for 4 years in a row for the All-Region 11 Orchestra (NISD). He is also a 2 time All-State violinist. He has played with the San Angelo Symphony, Symphony of the Hills. Currently, he is a sub with the San Antonio Symphony and plays with the Saltarelli Community Orchestra on his spare time as part of his community service.
His teaching experience include 5 years with NISD as the 5th Grade strings instructor at Powell, Cable, Helotes, and Passmore Elementary Schools in addition to his lesson studio.

James Ximenez - Violin & Viola
James Ximenez received his Bachelor's in Music Performance from Texas State University in 2016. Living in the central Texas area and a native of San Antonio, James has had the opportunity to play with various ensembles, such as the Texas State Symphony and Opera Orchestras, Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, the Lux Musicae Orchestra in San Antonio, and the Starlight Symphony Orchestra in Wimberley, as well as several smaller chamber ensembles, such as the Andrea String Quartet and Aquarena Strings. During his time at Texas State University, James also taught as a class lecturer and private lesson instructor in the Texas State String Project, a program for teaching young students age 6-12 years old.
